A new AI algorithm for diagnosing heart disease has been developed by Chinese scientists. The device analyzes 3D OCT images of the cardiac arteries, processes a large amount of data and various interpretations of the results. This allows specialists to make a more accurate diagnosis and start treatment as soon as possible.
The process of the algorithm consists of 2 stages. First, AI processes the image received using OCT – this enables to predict possible location of plaques. Then an additional algorithm tests the results of the AI that imitates the experience of real doctors.
The tests showed the following results: the mechanism correctly identified about 80% of diseases. In the future, the developers plan to optimize the device by introducing new parameters and improving AI performance.
