Triumph of experimental structural biology

Molecules of living organisms cannot exist without proteins, the function of which may differ depending on how the chain of amino acids is formed after cellular synthesis. However, the way proteins fold is one of the most challenging subjects in biology. Recently, scientists have integrated computational and experimental methods with artificial intelligence to understand the nuclear pore complex better. It contains approximately 1,000 proteins that can pierce the nuclear envelope and carry DNA instructions to different parts of the cell. This study shows how AI can be used even in molecular biology.
